If you're a fan of vintage Japanese cars, be sure to check out Nissan's online heritage site. There are tons of vintage Nissan pics and specs going all the way back to the 1920s. Each featured car or truck has relevant specs and a little "detail" tab that gives some background on that specific car.
The Volkswagen Kombi van reached iconic status, with even a school lunch box fashioned in its image. During those early years, the Volkswagen Microbus morphed into various forms. From a cargo carrier with no windows behind the driver's seat to a windowed passenger van with three rows of seats, the possibilities seemed endless.
Classic Car Overview
This particular model is a 1959 Austin-Healey 3000 MKI BT7. This pristine example is a BT7 2+2, which includes an additional 2 seats. This is confirmed with the BT7 body number found under the hood. This car features the rare optional Laycock de Normanville overdrive and is one of 10,825 MKI's ever produced. The overdrive, which can be engaged by a toggle switch, operates on third and fourth gears, to produce a total of six gear ratios. This vehicle is COMPLETELY RUST FREE and includes the Heritage Certificate. All maintenance documents are available as well. The sale will include the detachable metal frame necessary for a top, but does not include a top.
Austin-Healey entered the market in 1952 as a British sports car maker through a joint venture between the Austin division of the British Motor Corporation (BMC), and the Donald Healey Motor Company. The newly formed partnership debuted their first Austin-Healey 100 in 1953, followed by the Austin-Healey 100-6 from 1956-1959. Production of the 3000 MKI began in March of 1959 and offered two open-top variations. This included the BN7 two-seater and the BT7 2+2 four-seater model. The 3000 earned its name from the new 2,912cc six-cylinder engine under the hood, equipped with twin SU HD6 carburetors. To ensure maximum braking power with the new 124 horsepower engine, Austin-Healey added Girling front disc brakes.
