The 1959 Rambler American was designed as a compact, entry-level vehicle, available in two-door sedan, wagon, or sedan delivery configurations. It featured a 90-horsepower inline-six engine paired with a 3-speed manual transmission. Distinctive characteristics included curved body panels, flared wheel wells, and unique bumpers referred to as bumper rats. Renowned for its affordability, the Rambler American had a base price of approximately $1,795.
