Why the 1959 Edsel Villager?
The Edsel story remains one of the most fascinating chapters in automotive history. Introduced by Ford as a new standalone division, the Edsel became famous not only for its bold styling but also for its rarity. While the brand existed for only three model years, the Villager wagon was one of the few Edsel models that survived the entire production run.
For 1959, the Villager became Edsel's only station wagon model and was offered in both six-passenger and nine-passenger configurations. Only 5,687 six-passenger Villager wagons were produced for the 1959 model year, making surviving original examples increasingly difficult to find today.
This example is equipped with the desirable 361ci Super Express V8 and Dual-Power 3-speed automatic transmission, rated at an impressive 303 horsepower when newmaking it one of the most powerful full-size wagons of its era.
A True Collector's Wagon
Unlike heavily restored examples, this Villager retains much of its original character, including its original interior components and factory features. The working factory air conditioning, original drivetrain, and largely untouched presentation make it an exceptional candidate for collectors who appreciate authenticity.
Whether you're an Edsel enthusiast, a Ford collector, or simply someone who appreciates rare American station wagons, this Villager represents an opportunity to own a genuine piece of automotive history.
