Classic Car Overview
1959 Edsel Corsair $52,995
Edsels have really come into their own on the classic car market. While they were born out of a legendary failure to find buyers, today that makes them a distinct and rare choice. In fact, this convertible was the most expensive offering for 59, and so it was also the rarest with less than 1,400 produced. And you can already imagine how few have survived today looking this good. After all, rarely does sheetmetal remain this straight after nearly 60 years, and on top of that, there was a professional respray of the factory-correct colors. The two-tone is intricate work as the glossy Blue Aqua was applied within the sweeping side trim. In fact, all the major brightwork on the coupe is complete and impressive. So this one has a solid presentation that goes well-beyond the famous horse collar grille. The Edsel division was only alive for three years. Each year had distinctive styling, and this is arguably the best of the bunch for the classic car collector. It combines some mass-produced Ford elements for easier maintenance than the first-year, and it also carries more distinctive styling than the third-year cars.
A classic droptop like this is all about a great coordinating interior that you share with the world. So while we all love how the white soft top is pristine enough to match the bodywork, the two-tone interior is even more impressive. Thats because there has been an investment in restoring the interior so well that it all matches to appear like a seamless presentation with the top down. Legroom is expansive, so its the perfect classic for those who want to look authentic while carrying around family and friends. Youll slip behind the factory wheel and gaze at gauges that were clearly inspired by the jet age. And while we already told you how rare this droptop is, youre going to start to see it standout even further with factory options still in place, including the power seat and power folding top.
This is a W-code Edsel, which means the correct 361 cubic-inch V8 is under the hood. This was the largest optional motor available in 59, and so this is more evidence of one of the most opulent Edsels ever made. And with all the investments the interior and exterior, there was still plenty left in the budget to making sure this top motor was looking factory fresh. This engine bay has all the details correct - from the factory decals to the tag on the A/C compressor - so be prepared for it to draw plenty of attention. And while this looks fantastic, the FE block is also a great powerhouse to move this convertible with ease. So its a great cruiser thanks to features like the three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, and iconic tall whitewall tires.
Rare, interesting, and premium an Edsel is now one of the most interesting pieces of automotive history to possess today. And youre likely to ever find a more exceptional example ever again. So dont miss out, call today!
