1959 Chevrolet Apache Show Truck Stunning that was acquired at Barrett Jackson in 2019 and driven less than 200 miles since. ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION According to the seller, the 235-cubic-inch straight-six engine in this Apache is original to the truck. It had a compression ratio of 8.5:1, had its fuel supplied by a single Rochester carburetor, and had a rated output of 135 horsepower. The engines rebuild history is unknown, but the block has a casting number that confirms it is correct for a GM pickup built between 1958 and 1962. It is said to start immediately, without smoke, when the choke is engaged. No leaks are reported from anywhere associated with the drivetrain. The GM manual transmission has three forward speeds and is described as shifting smoothly in all gears. The Chevrolet Thriftmaster six, as the light-duty 235 was then called, is restored to a very high standard cosmetically, with correct light- green paint on the engine. The rest of the engine bay is equally sanitary and fresh. EXTERIOR Originally finished in green, this Apache was refinished in 2019 in Passion Rose Pearl, an aftermarket shade that most closely resembles the 1959 Chevrolet truck color of Romany Maroon, a color scheme that extends to the engine bay. The grille is painted a contrasting silver. The truck retains most of its factory sheet metal with the exception of the rear fenders, which are molded from fiberglass. The seller describes the paint as still being in perfect condition, with no swirls or blemishes. There is no rust reported on this Apache. Every item on the exterior of the truck, including the bumpers and all badges and trim, have been either restored or replaced. The present chrome work presents as being in excellent condition. The cargo bed has new oak flooring planks with polished retaining hardware. The tailgate has new brackets, chains and black protective material. According to the seller, all of the cab glass was replaced during the restoration, and the exterior lighting is fully functional. The undercarriage, including the frame rails, crossmembers and rear axle, presents as nearly spotless. INTERIOR The seller states that every iter and component in the interior has been either restored or replaced. The cabs bench seat is now covered with cloth/vinyl facings that complement the Apaches exterior paint scheme. The cabs rubber floor mat is new, as is the headliner, which includes a working dome light. The body-color steel dashboard presents as being in excellent condition. All small controls look to be as new. The chrome-trimmed instrument nacelle also looks to be in very good condition. All of the instruments are reported functional with the exception of the factory AM radio radio which remains in the dash. The cabs seals and weatherstriping were replaced with new items at the time of restoration. CHASSIS The Apache rides on Dayton Thoroughbred wide whitewall tires plus a bed-mounted spare that are in as new condition mounted on 15 inch steel disc wheels with small year correct wheel covers that appear to be in excellent shape A variety of major suspension components were replaced during restoration No issues are reported with either the manual steering or manual drum brakes .
