Classic Car Overview
PRICE IS FIRM! This fully restored 30,000-mile 1959 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible has been owned for the past 60-years by its present owner and benefits from a full body off restoration. Purchased in 1964 and stored until its restoration was completed in 2000, this Cadillac is simply gorgeous. Completing about 600 miles since its restoration, this Cadillac can be enjoyed as it is today or easily upgraded to concours standards. HISTORY OF THIS CADILLAC. Fate would have it in 1964 when Dennis Olson saw this Cadillac at a little gas station in rural Thompkins, Saskatchewan. The Cadillacs transmission had failed and the owner, being desperate to get to Ontario, sold it to young Dennis for about $500 (paying for his bus fare and then some). Being quite young and with limited resources, Dennis stored the Cadillac for the next 35 years. The Cadillac had accumulated just about 30,000 miles from new. In 1999, Dennis and his wife Rose commenced a complete, body off the frame restoration with Pride and Joy Restorations in Lethridge, Canada. The restoration was comprehensive, being completed in 2000. Pride and Joy Restorations brought the Cadillac down to bare metal and removed any areas of rust. The Cadillac today is in gorgeous overall condition, but has been driven less than 500 miles since its restoration and could benefit from a minor servicing and normal detailing. Dennis and Rose enjoyed the Cadillac at local events or trailered it to regional car shows. EXTERIOR. The livery is stunning in its Black paint with gorgeous chrome and stainless steel. Most all of the chrome and stainless are in excellent condition with only a few smaller pieces showing a few minor defects. The contrast between the Black paint and the chrome are spectacular, setting off the depth and luster of the paint. There are very few touched up chips in the higher use areas. We love the additional chrome accent that Dennis added highlighting the double bullet taillights on the rear fender, normally only found on the Eldorados. The Black vinyl power convertible top is nearly as new and works well. The wide white walled radials complement the car perfectly. The fit of the body panels is very nice overall and the exterior is perfect for most all concours events. INTERIOR. The impressive interior is presented in burgundy and black. The upholstery is burgundy vinyl with period correct burgundy and black woven inserts. The convertible top boot is burgundy vinyl and in very nice condition. The black loop carpeting appears new and complements the burgundy perfectly. The dash is black with loads of chrome and stainless-steel panels and clusters. The dash is in very nice condition with most of the chrome and stainless in very nice to excellent condition. A few minor pieces show some wear or pitting. The black and white two-tone steering wheel has a few very minor hairline cracks which can be easily repaired. Overall, the interior is very nice and is presently perfect for touring or regional sh
