Classic Car Overview

1958 Edsel Citation Convertible

  • Edsel's range-topping model
  • Equipped with the E-475 410 cubic inch motor
  • Rated at 345 HP/475 ft/lbs of torque
  • Tele-touch transmission
  • Power convertible top
  • "Floating" speedometer
  • Power windows
  • Recent water pump replacement and brake service

Despite being Ford's most expensive failure (the equivalent of 4 billion in today's dollars spent on marketing and development), the Edsel was the most advanced car in the intermediate price segment. Packing features found in vehicles 50 years later, such as steering wheel mounted controls, early child-proof door locks, a padded dashboard, internal hood and trunk releases, power windows, "dial" operated climate control, and more, the Edsel was at the forefront of innovation. And this model, the Citation, was the crown jewel of the new marque. Benefitting from extensive nut and bolt restoration within the last 15 years, this vehicle has additionally had the water pump replaced, brake master cylinder rebuilt, and new mufflers installed, all within the last 100 miles.
