The car presented at auction is from an Eastern Montana dealer collection and has benefited from a frame-on restoration. While the restoration was completed many years ago, the car shows extremely well today due to being on display inside prominently on the showroom floor.
At the time of the restoration, floor pans were professionally replaced and all other body issues were expertly addressed. The paint still shows excellent today with no "bubbling" present. In addition, the trunk floors show rust free including the spare tire indent. A rarely seen original dealer installed option on the car are the back-up lights. These lights work correctly as do all components on the car.
Under the hood, the 283 V8 engine benefited from a complete front end review including the steel gear timing chain. A new water pump was installed the car is powered by Pertronix electronic ignition. The 2bbl carburetor was overhauled and a new fuel pump was installed as well as a new master cylinder for the braking system. The exhaust sound is enhanced by the presence of glass packs providing that great Detroit sound!
The interior of the car has some custom touch to it with Buick front pillowtop seats in custom upholstery. The headliner is original to the car and presents well with one blemish around the dome light. The carpet appears original to the car and does present with typical wear and stains from it's 62 year existence. The master cylinder did leak on the driver side carpet prior to replacement.
This 1958 Chevrolet shows 3000 miles on the odometer, which is likely 103,000 miles. The motor does run strong, the transmission with overdrive provides ease of driving and the car presents very well inside, outside, underneath and under the hood. This car will be unique at any car show and will be a pleasure on a Sunday cruise, cross country trip or just down the road for ice cream.
