Classic Car Overview

===== 1958 Buick Limited Riviera Hardtop =====

This 1958 Buick Limited is a rare four-door hardtop Riviera model, powered by a 364ci Nailhead V8 paired with a Flight Pitch Dynaflow automatic transmission. Finished in Blue Mist over a blue interior, this Limited comes equipped with factory air conditioning, power windows, power steering, power-assisted brakes, and a push-button AM radio.

==== Historical Significance ====

The 1958 Limited was a one-year-only flagship model, built to mark Buicks 50th anniversary as part of General Motors. Offered in convertible, two-door hardtop, and four-door hardtop configurations, the Limited shared a wheelbase with the Super and Roadmaster models but extended eight inches longer, giving it a total length of 227.1 inches.

This particular example is one of just 5,571 four-door hardtops produced for the model year.

----------------------------------------

==== Exterior ====

Factory-finished in Blue Mist (Code 22), the car displays classic 1958 Buick design elements, including:

Fashion-Aire Dynastar grille
Gunsight fender ornaments
Sweepspear side trim
Quad headlights
Vertical simulated louvers on the rear quarter panels
Tail fins
Dual side mirrors
Chrome bumpers and bright trim

The door weatherstripping was replaced in 2020, and the reverse light wiring was repaired in late 2023.

The 15 steel wheels were powder coated black and are fitted with BFGoodrich whitewall tires, which show 2019 date codes.

----------------------------------------

==== Interior ====

The front and rear bench seats have been retrimmed in blue upholstery, complemented by:

Color-coordinated door panels and dash pad
Replacement carpeting
Factory air conditioning (recharged in 2023)
Power windows (repaired in 2023)
Front and rear lap belts (added during refurbishment)
Analog clock
Push-button AM radio

The blue-rimmed steering wheel features a chrome horn ring and frames a horizontal 120-mph speedometer with auxiliary gauges.

The five-digit odometer shows approximately 95k miles, but true mileage is unknown.

----------------------------------------

==== Mechanical Restoration ====

A replacement 364ci Nailhead V8 was professionally rebuilt in 2020, with work including:

Boring the cylinders .030 over
Balancing the rotating assembly
Polishing the crankshaft
Rebuilding the cylinder heads
Reconditioning or replacing connecting rods
Installing a new camshaft, oil pump, pistons and rings, valves, valve springs, keepers, lifters, and bearings
Overhauling the carburetor
Rebuilding the fuel tank
Replacing the voltage regulator

The oil was changed as part of routine maintenance.

----------------------------------------

==== Transmission & Chassis ====

Power is sent to the rear wheels through the Flight Pitch Dynaflow automatic transmission, which was overhauled during the refurbishment.

Additional chassis and suspension work included:

Overhauling the braking system
Replacing the leaf-spring shackle bushings
Power-assisted drum brakes on all four corners
Power steering

----------------------------------------

==== Summary ====

This beautifully restored 1958 Buick Limited Riviera is a rare and highly collectible example of Buicks top-of-the-line luxury and styling in the late 1950s. Combining a powerful rebuilt Nailhead V8, stunning Jet Age styling, and factory air conditioning, this Limited is ready to be shown, driven, and enjoyed.
