Classic Car Overview
Fairly rare with only around 13,400 built out of 58,000 of all TR3s. And also when compared with 101,000 MGAs (their contemporary) built.
Excellent body.....went over the entire exterior with a magnet and it stuck everywhere, rockers, door legs, bottom of doors, nose panel. No hint of plastic filler anywhere, quite remarkable for ANY 66 year old car. And with very nice older black paint. (we were told this car was the product of a body on restoration a few years ago)
Chassis and floors are very solid and it would seem this car is a true 'survivor' and well maintained. No idea as to when the engine was last rebuilt but with 160 psi compression in every cylinder and 65-75 psi oil pressure and no smoke cold or hot, betting it doesn't have a lot of miles on it. And transmission works well (quiet and with good synchromesh) as does the steering (a frequent weak point on all TR3s) and brakes (discs and this model was the first British production car to have 'em)
Wire wheels fitted to the car with new splined hubs, brand new convertible top, a good pair of side curtains, stainless steel exhaust, very clean engine bay and trunk compartment, and it certainly appears that the entire interior is new. And few better color combinations than black outside, red (with white piping) inside.
Its been converted to negative ground, has a modern digital stereo in the glove box, all in all, a dandy classic sports car with a certain cache due to its relative rarity, 110 mph performance, disc brakes and wire wheels. And even room for two small kids behind the seats as TR3s were designed to offer a 2+2 configuration.
