Following hot on the heels of the larger, more powerful, and significantly more expensive 300 SL, the Mercedes-Benz 190 SL was a more lifestyle-oriented, sporty convertible in comparison. Instead of the complicated, racing-derived tubular spaceframe used in the 300 SL, the 190 SL utilized a modified floor-pan of the W121 sedan. A new Inline-4 based on the 300 SLs six-cylinder motors design but without its complicated direct fuel injection system provided 120hp.
With styling directly derived from the 300 SL, the new car attracted plenty of attention in and out of showrooms. Unlike the 300 SL, the 190 SL was only ever offered as a convertible, though buyers looking for a coupe-like experience could order a removable hardtop. As a more lifestyle oriented car, the 190 SL was (and is) a far more livable driving companion than a 300 SL. Today, the 190 SL is recognized for its phenomenal good looks and easy driving experience, making it the perfect choice for any discerning collector.
The award-winning 1957 Mercedes-Benz 190 SL Roadster featured here is finished in its factory original color of Strawberry Red Metallic over a gorgeous Black leather interior with a matching convertible top. This investment-grade 190 SL was meticulously restored by world-renowned Mercedes-Benz restorer, Bob Platz, and recipient of over 15 wins including the coveted AACA Senior and Grand National awards, making this arguably one of the best examples and most awarded 190 SLs to ever come to market. Because of this incredible winning pedigree, I personally feel the investment potential of this iconic model will grow beyond your imagination! Offered to the most demanding collector, investor, or enthusiast who desires to own the very best at an investment price!
