From its short three-year spell as a fully fledged coachbuilder, carrozzeria Boano produced just 68 low roof Ferrari 250 GT Coups between 1956 and 1957. Among them, chassis number 0661 GT holds a fascinating early history. It was originally delivered in Belgium on 25 April 1957 to Baron de Fierlant Dormer. His association was only brief, for later that year the Ferrari was acquired by racing driver Robert Crevits. He entered the car in a variety of Belgian hillclimb events, notably scoring a hat-trick of GT class wins during the summer of 1960.

Months after, Ferrari concessionaire Garage Francorchamps sold chassis 0661 GT to a new owner and then, from 1964, the car was registered in the Netherlands. Following a period in storage, it was freighted to South Africa for restoration prior to being purchased by Stephen Forristall of Houston, Texas. His 13-year custodianship ended in 2000, when the Ferrari was bought by Christopher Rose of California. It was swiftly sent for further restorative work at marque specialist Patrick Ottis Company in Berkeley.

Returning to Italy in the early 2000s, chassis 0661 GT was acquired by Pier Angelo Masselli. He added to the motorsport record, contesting rounds of the 2004 Ferrari Maserati Historic Challenge at Vallelunga, Spa-Francorchamps, the Nrburgring, and Monza. Soon landing in Germany, the car sold to keen endurance and Ferrari Challenge racer Andreas Segler of Hannover. Under his care, the 250 GT entered the Ferrari 60th anniversary Concours dElegance in Maranello plus the 2008 and 2009 editions of the Mille Miglia.

Mr Segler sold the Boano Coup in June 2010 to compatriot Michael Kalow, who participated in the Mille Miglia in 2011 and 2013. Later that year the car was bought by the vendor, who has enjoyed chassis 0661 GT on the Tour Auto on four occasions in addition to a further Mille Miglia entry. In November 2022, the Ferrari was subject to over 76,000 of engine rebuild work overseen by David Morris Race Preparation, with that and other work verified by invoices available to view on file.

Certified by Ferrari Classiche in March 2004 and offered with its Red Book , this wonderfully storied 250 GT Coup by Boano was noted in its Classiche inspection to retain its matching-numbers 3.0-litre V-12 engine. Cherished by the consigning owner for 12 years, the Ferrari is further accompanied by a FIVA Identity Card issued in June 2023 and a current TV.
