Classic Car Overview
In the early 1950s, designer Harley Earl convinced executives at General Motors that they needed to produce a mid-priced sports car to compete with Eurpoean comeptitors such as MG, Jaguar and Alfa Romeo. GM got to work and in 1953 unveiled the first Corvette prototype, known as the EX-122, at General Motors Motorama in New York City. The car received a tremendous response and went into production mid-year. The first-generation Corvette was a huge hit and General Motors quickly realized the car was to become their flagship model for speed and performance. This 1957 Corvette is the definition of a sleeper. Walking up to the car, one would think only the modern wheels are what sets this car apart from its stock counterparts but that soon all changes. Recently rotisserie restored to Pro-Touring specifications, this Corvette is unlike any other. Powered by a custom pro-built 6.0L LS2 fuel-injected V8 tied to a custom-built 4-speed 4L60E automatic transmission, this 57 is ready to perform. The pro-built engine is supported by 36-pound injectors, 92mm throttle-body and an aluminum radiator with electric fans. With all this power, it would be a sin and a shame to place the car on a stock chassis, so the cars powder coated frame sits on a custom chassis tied to modern suspension, tubular front-end A arms, 4 link rear suspension, QA1 coilovers, rack & pinion and, of course, power steering and Wilwood 4-wheel disc brakes. On the exterior, the car is coated in Venetian Red over White coves with a custom Red interior created with Wise Guy leather bucket seats and Al Knoch materials. A restored matching hard top also comes with the car (fantastic add to the car for shows). Air conditioning, modern stereo with bluetooth and USB make this Corvette that much more enjoyable to drive. With less than 100-miles since completion, this Corvette offers a fantastic opportunity to own arguably the greatest pro-touring C1 available today. Unless stated otherwise, mileage shown on odometer is exempt and unknown if original.
