Classic Car Overview

Another beautiful Basil Classic... this 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air showing 300 miles has been handpicked and meets Joe Basils standards of excellence and tradition of fine automobiles since 1951.

This 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air wagon is a jaw-dropping custom build that blends timeless Tri-Five styling with thoroughly modern performance underneath. Finished in a two-tone combination of pearl white lower body and a rich chocolate-brown roof, the car rides on staggered 18 Budnik gold-finished wheels that perfectly complement the custom color palette. The iconic 57 fins, hooded headlights, and chrome-toothed grille remain unmistakably classic, while smoothed bodywork and custom Kindig-It Design door handles give the exterior a clean, flush-fitted look that sets it apart from a stock example. This build sits on a fully engineered Art Morrison chassis, putting modern suspension geometry and handling underneath the classic sheet metal. Stopping power comes from four-wheel Wilwood disc brakes, while a Ford 9-inch rear end delivers power with the strength and reliability the platform is famous for. Power comes from a GM crate LS3 V8 topped with an Edelbrock fuel injection system, dressed in gorgeous copper-brown valve covers with Lovey script and finished with polished intake plumbing - as much a piece of functional art as it is a performance upgrade. Backing the LS3 is a heavy-duty 4L80E automatic transmission, built to handle the torque and provide smooth, modern drivability. Inside, the wagon continues the custom theme with cream leather bucket seats featuring woven inserts, a color-matched dash and door panels, and a custom billet steering wheel to match the wheels. This cabin feels more like a high-end restomod than a 1950s wagon. This is a couple-year-old show build that has been driven approximately 4,000 miles since completion - enough to prove its sorted and road-ready, while still presenting like new. A stunning, thoughtfully engineered wagon that combines classic curb appeal with serious modern muscle underneath.
