From around 1956 until the mid 1980s, Dodge, Plymouth and even Chrysler squads were the most ubiquitous police cars in North America. In fact, the biggest department, the NYPD, used Plymouth and Dodge squads almost exclusively until the rear-drive M body car was finally axed in 1989.
The no-frills Savoy two-door sedan was home to another engine of considerable repute, the infamous 413 Max Wedge, a Super Stock monster block Chrysler introduced in the spring of 1962.

Nicely Maintained 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Hardtop
The next amazing vehicle up for grabs in our Benicia showroom is this seriously impressive 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air 2 Door Hardtop with Butternut Yellow exterior paint and a matching light yellow cloth interior. You’ll find the factory numbers-matching 283 cid V-8 engine and automatic transmission under the hood along with several of the factory accessories, and this desirable classic has remained largely unchanged over the years across two different owners. It is in very nice overall condition as well and really impresses in person.
Two Owner California Classic w/ Numbers-Matching Drivetrain
The current owner of this 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Hardtop purchased this outstanding classic from the original owner back in 2010. He informs us that he was drawn to this particular vehicle because it is virtually 1000% original both inside and out with only minimal levels of wear. He does not believe that the factory drivetrain has been rebuilt over the course of its life but could not supply any proof of that statement- it’s simply what the original owner of 53 years told him. The rest of this prestigious classic also appears factory correct from accessories to the interior to the finishing trim.
In terms of condition, this 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air has great body lines that align properly and really stand out with correct paint and very nice chrome trim. As a true survivor, there are some minor flaws to be found in places but nothing to detract from this one’s overall curb appeal. Likewise, the interior is exceptional with the factory correct steering column, instrument clusters and seating; although it appears that the interior fabric has been refreshed at least once during its lifetime. The factory-correct engine compartment is also very clean for an unrestored survivor of this caliber.
A Sensational Investment Opportunity for One Lucky Collector
Overall, this 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Hardtop is a beautiful classic with excellent documentation showing sixty years of responsible ownership. You could look for years and not find a classic of this caliber, so you definitely want to come see it for yourself before its back in a private collection forever. For more information about this impressive vehicle, visit our Benicia, California showroom, give us a call at 707-748-4000, or email us at Sales@SpecialtySales.com. Be sure to mention Stock # B11372 as well.
Legal Disclosures: Specialty Sales Classics has advertised and sold thousands of classic cars since our founding in 1978. We strongly encourage any and all buyers who are unable to view the vehicle in-person to perform a Pre-Purchase Inspection (by an independent party of their choosing) prior to the purchase. Given the age of many of our vehicles, it is extremely difficult to adequately describe all aspects of each vehicles condition in the limited space available and we have learned that these Pre-Purchase Inspections are helpful to all parties involved.
The information for this vehicle was provided by the current owner and it is not certified by Specialty Sales Classics. Therefore, it is in no way guaranteed as a basis of purchase. Any statements such as original or numbers-matching should be verified independently by the buyer prior to purchase.
