Classic Car Overview

1957 Chevrolet 210 2-Door Sedan For consignment, a 1957 Chevrolet 210 2 door sedan, showing 77,997 but the true miles are unknown. As our consignor states, this is an old school 57 Chevy 210 and has a number of parts from other cars to make it a reliable, attractive, and faster than new version of an all time iconic ride. Exterior Ruby Red Metallic is a fantastic shade of dark red made even better by the accenting on the car which includes influences from the upmarket Bel Air, including gold colored trim pieces, the aluminum wedge, and Bel Air in scripted name plate in place of Chevrolet. Side body molding slopes slightly in back, brilliantly becoming the bottom edge of the wedge and the shoulder line trim dips slightly at the point the wedge begins below it in a subtle design cue that is subconsciously pleasing to the eyes. Out back, pointed fins are lined with columns of chrome, leading to crescent shaped tail lights over a robust chrome bumper and two large chrome exhaust tips. In profile, the curved glass front and rear become obvious, and the sides have etched flowers. 15-inch polished American Racing Torque Thrust wheels fit in well with the rest of the gleaming metalwork. Some bubbling down low, a rough spot of paint at a windows edge, and some imperfect gaps on the trunk are the only issues with this otherwise clean and show worthy exterior. Interior The show continues on the inside where black and white alternate, beginning on the door panel where the black arm rest matches the header and carpeted kick panel. The pattern in vertical rolled and pleated form takes place on the split bench in front and its in great condition and the rear bench, even better. Up front, a steering wheel from a 1958 Impala looks right at home in front of the equally ornate dashboard, fronted by an added tachometer on the column. A mix of black paint, perforated aluminum, and smooth metal surfaces grace the dashboard, along with buttons and knobs and a more modern AM/FM/Cassette radio over a tri pack of added gauges mounted under the dash. A Hurst shifter rises from the floor which is covered cleanly with black loop carpet while the white headliner is above in good condition. A rubber mat fits the large trunk which also houses the spare and jack. Drivetrain Under the hood, a 283 V8, bored out to 301ci according to our consignor, wears Corvette valve covers and a Corvette intake, while on the inside is a Duntov Cam and Power Pack heads cap things off. Fueling the engine are a pair of rebuilt Carter 4-barrel carburetors, all mated to a Saginaw 4-speed manual transmission with an 11 clutch, sending power to the rear where our consignor tells us 4.10 gears are present. Drum brakes are found on all four corners. Undercarriage Some oil around, some grease around, a bit of surface rust, but otherwise clean on this driver quality undercarriage. Dual exhaust travels through glasspack style mufflers before exiting to the atmosphere via big chrome tips. We note some invasive rust on several body braces and the belly pan and it appears to have been halted by an undercoating. Suspension consists of coil springs in front and leaf springs with traction bars in the back. Drive-Ability The horsepower inspired engine comes to life with a healthy bellow from the pipes and we move the short shifter in first position and roll the even sized tires onto the test loop where the car provides good power, great visibility, and a smooth, comfortable ride. We note the horn and clock are not working, but all other functions operate as they should. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. Theyll never be ugly. Theyll never be out of style. Theyll never stop turning heads. Wedge equipped two door 57s are the top of the Tri-Five Chevy food chain and this is a shining example, well sorted, and attractive. Every collection should have a 57, and new collectors should start with a 57. Snatch this ruby red one up, before someone beats you off the line!
