Classic Car Overview

1957 Chevrolet 210 2-Door Sedan For consignment, a mid-range trim package of 1957 in the form of a 210 2-door sedan. A clean interior and some 2 tone paint...its now your chance to get into the Tri Five era. Our consignor uses the words powerful, dependable, and solid to describe this old school cruiser and much of that comes from the HUGE list of maintenance and upgrades performed during his ownership tenure. All new wiring and fuse block from American Auto Wiring, fully rebuilt suspension, a rebuilt dash cluster, new weather stripping, and a power brake upgrade just to name a few. This car is so reliable that it could fall into the daily driver category, but you wouldnt want to do that, would you? You Aint Nuthin but a hound dog... Exterior With light blue bathing the body panels we can see a few inclusions, bubbles, evidence of body filler and scratches on the finish but its an overall decent paint job. The chrome is showing as slightly tarnished all around, even for the wrap-around glass and Dagmar -less corners of trimmings for the silver grille. Speaking of the glass, its all highlighted by the crisp clean white painted roof that provides a wonderful contrast to the blue. This car has the ever expanding trim spears as they move back the rear quarter panel, but no ribbed Bel Air inserts. This takes its handoff from a trim spear in chrome that starts at the front quarter headlights. I just love this exterior design with the chrome topped fins which drop vertically to form a crescent shaped tail light at the bottom. Way down is a rear bumper, still nice but also slightly tarnished, and this has an inset oval back-up light on either side. Chrome tipped dual exhaust peeks out from under the bumper. This car has old skool kewl vintage 14-inch Ansen aluminum slot wheels and staggered blackwall tires on all 4 corners. Im all shook up! Interior Long gone is the front split bench and now a pair of late model GM buckets clad in charcoal leather and a full black vinyl bench in back but slightly aged and wrinkled make up the seating for 5. The dash appears to have the original gauges which have been fully rebuilt, and reside within a silver dash front with a full metal jacket black painted dash top. The factory correct big black 210 badged steering wheel fronts this dash. There is an aftermarket large tachometer mounted to the column so you can keep track of the rpms and a trio of black face gauges in dash central to monitor other engine vitals. The door panels are smooth black vinyl with shiny chrome cranks and a nice black padded armrest. Black carpeting, in very clean condition floods the floors, and a Hurst T handle shifter reaches for the drivers hand from the hump. Above is a stunning black vinyl headliner looking very 50s and pristine. An unrestored trunk shows with splatter paint on the sides and a large black vinyl mat. We note new weatherstipping for the trunk as well as the doors. Its a hunk of burning love for me! Drivetrain Residing now under the hood in this gleaming engine bay is a 350ci motor that our consignor states makes 250hp. It has an Edelbrock intake and a Holley spread bore 4-barrel carburetor atop and a Muncie M20 4-speed manual transmission on back with a 3.36 geared rear axle turning the tires. Headers are on and our consignor notes that all the fluids were recently changed along with new heater and radiator hoses and a new water pump. Dont be cruel. Undercarriage All bathed in black with some surface rust peeking through with the frame and flooring remaining solid. We can see the inner rockers and body hangers are showing with invasive rust in a few areas, but all are easily repairable. A new fuel tank, lines and sending unit is on and now we see power disc brakes for the front, and power drums for the back. Independent coil sprung front, and leaf springs with traction bars rear suspension are on back all rebuilt with new shocks, leaf springs, shackles, and control arm bushing . Power steering has been added as well with all new components including the center link, idler arm and drag link. A shiny Glasspack muffler equipped exhaust takes from the headers and releases the spent gases out the back. Drive-Ability A wonderful cruiser with that perfect hot rodded 50s vibe. It drives beautifully, has nice handling, good acceleration from the 350 cubes, and all working functions. Im not sure of the exact history with this car, but obviously it has been treated well by our consignor with tons of maintenance and mechanical upgrades. All good though as it presents nicely in its mid-range 210 form. Hey, its now or never.
