This 1956 Willys Flatbed represents a thoughtfully restored example of one of Americas most rugged and utilitarian trucks. An Arizona vehicle from new, it retains a clean, clear Arizona title and has just completed a comprehensive restoration, with fewer than 30 miles driven since completion.

Power comes from the original Willys 226ci Flathead Hurricane inline-six, paired with the correct T90 three-speed manual transmission and Dana 18 transfer case. The drivetrain remains true to factory specification, and the 4WD system is fully functional. Notably, this truck was factory-equipped with a 12-volt electrical system, a desirable feature for this model year.

The exterior is finished in a period-appropriate flat Desert Tan, complemented by a Slate Gray interior. A newly custom-fabricated flatbed gives the truck a purposeful, vintage work-truck stance while maintaining clean proportions. The cab features all-new glass with fresh seals and gaskets, reupholstered seating, door panels, sun visors, and an original-style Willys floor mat.

Mechanically, the restoration was extensive and detail-oriented. The engine was fully rebuilt, along with all related components. A new clutch and throw-out bearing were installed, along with new engine and transmission mounts. The front closed knuckles were disassembled and resealed, wheel bearings were serviced, and the braking system was completely refreshed with new steel lines, hoses, rebuilt wheel cylinders, a new master cylinder, and new brakes throughout.

Additional upgrades include a high-torque starter, new exhaust system from the manifold back, all-new wiring from headlights to taillights, a new 15-gallon fuel tank and fuel lines, new cab-to-frame rubber mounts, and new 16-inch wheels wrapped in 7.00/16 tires. The truck runs and drives exceptionally well.

While not represented as a concours-level show truck, this Willys is solid, honest, and well-sorted, with strong attention to detail throughout the restoration. The windshield wipers are currently inoperative, though all parts are present. Extensive documentation and receipts for parts and supplies are included. The original unrestored bed can be included with the sale, if desired.

SUMMARY

A freshly restored, numbers-correct Willys flatbed with authentic character, mechanical integrity, and undeniable presence. Whether added to a collection, used as a vintage shop truck, or enjoyed on weekends, this 1956 Willys offers classic 4×4 utility with a level of craftsmanship rarely found today.
