Purchased in the summer of 1976, this 1956 Lincoln Premier Convertible has remained in the same family for nearly five decades. The current owner was sixteen when she accompanied her dad to New Mexico to purchase the car, and together they drove it home to Montana the beginning of a long history of family memories.
Her dad, the cars third owner, intentionally sought out a 1956 Lincoln Premier because 1956 marked the year he graduated from high school, making the model personally meaningful. Approximately 2,400 Premier Convertibles were produced that year, adding to its distinction as a mid-century American luxury convertible.
Over the years, the Lincoln participated in local parades, family events, and fair-weather drives. It has been consistently garaged, covered, and responsibly maintained.
Finished in its factory color of Starmist White, the car retains its original trim and chrome. The interior has been restored to factory specifications in Starmist White and Medium Green. The paint presents with minor nicks and scratches consistent with age. The body lines remain straight, and the glass is in good condition.
The engine was replaced more than 30 years ago. The 368 cubic-inch V8 starts easily and runs smoothly. It is paired with an automatic transmission that requires starting in neutral. Steering shows slight play but tracks straight. Drum brakes are believed to be in original configuration.
This Lincoln represents a well-preserved, garage-kept example reflecting decades of responsible family stewardship.
