Classic Car Overview

1956 Lincoln Mark II The Lincoln Continental returned this year with the introduction of the Mark II. It made its debut on Oct. 6, 1955, at the Paris Auto Show. A long hood, short deck, restrained use of chrome and near perfect proportions helped the Mark II show the world just how beautiful a production American automobile could be. Like its predecessors, it was an instant classic. Yet it was not an imitation of the original. The Mark II was unmistakably modern in design. Being priced in the then lofty $10,000 range seemed to only accentuate how special this car was. This Mark II while aesthetically and cosmetically presented well, it became clear via our inspection process that it had sat idle for a number of years. There were a number of mechanical issues that were addressed, including the air conditioning system, which required a new AC compressor, hoses and belts. In addition, it was not steering as it should, so we ultimately replaced the power steering pump as well as the pump hose. Plus we got the power windows all working, the power seat working as well as the tachometer. Speaking of cosmetics, beautiful red paint, laser straight panels with no rot. Inside is just as nice. It s a great car, highly collectible, and a pleasure to drive. Cold air conditioning and a heater that works well drive it anywhere.
