Classic Car Overview

1956 Chevrolet Bel Air $12,500

Blue · 8 Cylinder · 95,500 miles

Perhaps one of the few "unmolested originals" of the Tri-Five Chevy Era. I purchased this '56 Bel Air 2DR HT from a mid-west classic car dealer during 2009. Body, frame, flooring, and undercarriage were all relatively clean, dry, solid, and straight. Decent overall condition warranted a "frame-up" restoration, so as not to disturb the integrity and originality of the car. Sheet metal needed as follows: both floor pans; headlight rims; right pass lower fender; rear lower quarter, 3-4 floor braces. Rockers solid enough to save. Have original replacement piece for damaged rear left quarter panel area. Stainless 95% complete, never removed, and good condition, with exception of 3 pieces that might be restorable. Photos are available showing problem areas mentioned, all parts, and every aspect of the car. Most of frame, engine compartment, undercarriage restored and coated w/ Eastwood Metal Encapsulater. As photos show, same type Eastwood products used to preserve exterior areas with surface rust. The "265" V-8 and Powerglide were out of the car when purchased. Neither has been operated or rebuilt. Both were de-greased, cleaned, and painted for preservation sake. Recommend complete rebuild of engine, tranny, and other components. Majority of interior floor, truck seams, and overall structure quite solid and straight. Nothing has been touched. Original body tar for '56 in trunk & floor seams. As temporary means to transfer, 1957 Chevy 14" wheels and tires installed. Many original parts cleaned and restored, and some new parts. Will need some components that are readily available. Interior all there except front bench seat. Needs windshield, and both driver's side glass. Moldings around glass interior & exterior intact. Doors fit perfect, and close with ease. This '56 has unlimited potential, as one of the few 2 DR HT that can be restored back to original. Has transferable North Dakota tile, with all paperwork in order for immediate transfer. Have photos of every aspect of the car...the good, the bad, and the ugly, and will work with serious potential buyers to provide photos by e-mail, DVD, or flash-drive. Terms: Cash only with local pickup. For those classic car enthusiasts who desire to own & restore a Classic '56 back to stock/original, this one may be worth your time to check-out. From my experience, Bel Air 2 DR HT's are either in very rough shape, or extremely high-end prices. In my opinion, this is an ideal classic that won't break the bank, and would be a good investment.
