Classic Car Overview

Fords historic Victoria name returned to the top-tier car in 1955, and none showed off the premium style better than the 1955 Ford Fairlane Crown Victoria Skyliner. Not only did it have elegant lines, but also the big clear bubble top roof makes it extremely distinctive and extremely rare. Fords were instantly recognizable this year with their sweeping chrome trim extending from the headlight all the way back to the tail - creating the perfect dividing line for the two-tone Waterfall Blue and Snowshoe White. Furthermore, its easy to distinguish the Crown Victorias as the upper echelon of the already top-of-the-line Ford Fairlanes, because only these have the encompassing brightwork that visually separates the front and rear passenger compartments. This looks quite tasteful on the regular coupes, but the band of bright trim over the roof seems to be tailor-made for the Skyliner series. Its perfect to showcase the Plexiglas roof section that gives the front seat such a panoramic view and lets this Skyliner earn its name. It was an expensive feature when new that cost even more than a convertible. Thus, there were only 1,999 examples made, and you can only imagine the increased rarity 65+ years later. So its the kind of car that receives plenty of attention from collectors in the know, and just fans of something distinct. Thats why they made sure this one continues to present well. We have a large photo file documenting the full restoration of the car and nearly $20k invested in getting it to look this vintage and correct. Its rolling rare elegance, right down to the details, wire wheel covers, whitewall tires, rear fender skirts, and continental kit on the rear. The blue and white theme is continued inside the car, and there is an overall clean and handsome presentation that makes this quite inviting. The front seats have a great pattern, and they have a more individualized style than the standard bench. But our favorite style element is how the door panels have a similar swoopy design to emulate the exterior trim. These door panels even wrap into the dashboard in a continuous sweep. The drivers seat feels like a time machine back to the 50s, including the stylized steering wheel, AM radio, carpets with Ford family crest, and even a pull-out tissue box. And the speedometer reminds you that Ford was ready to show off the new Plexiglas era on more than just the special roof. This is a U-code car, and so that means it was born with V8 power. Thats why its great to see such a detailed 272 cubic-inch motor under the hood today. It has correct pieces, like the oil bath air cleaner and big red block. Plus, there are tasteful upgrades like Thunderbird valve covers and polished fan that make it even nicer to show off the motor. Plus, the Reds headers give the dual exhaust a sweet V8 tune. This likes to be a true vintage cruiser, and that means the right features, like a column-shifted three-speed manual transmission and power brakes for better stopping confidence. Not only does the sale come with the restoration book, but also nice extras, like a copy of the dealer invoice. This is the rare coupe that knows how to let the sunshine in. So its time to let it into your life. Call today!!!
