1955 Ford F100 2WD Regular Cab
The Dodge Li'l Red Express set a standard on how to make a great performance truck. All Dodge Li'l Red Express trucks came from the factory painted in Bright Canyon Red in 1978 and Medium Canyon Red in 1979. Every Li'l Red Express was a regular cab Adventurer with a stepside bed.
Classic vintage Chevrolet pickup trucks are receiving growing interest among car enthusiasts. The most collectible muscle cars are numbers-matching survivors; the most sought-after vintage trucks are full custom builds.
Classic Car Overview
This truck is an all steel, professionally built street machine. This 1955 Ford F100 comes from the highly respected Rick Smith Collection. There are only 530 miles on this truck since completion.
Powering this truck is a Ford Racing 351 Cleveland with several very nice chrome touches. Transmission is a bullet proof Ford automatic C6. The rear end of this truck is held together with a Ford 9" with new drum brakes. The front suspension is a Mustang II conversion with disc brakes providing the stopping power. Power steering makes it easy in the turns.
This truck sounds very mean and is not for the faint of heart. The custom side exit exhaust sees to that. The interior is all custom fitted plush leather seats with "55 Ford F100" embroidery on the seats and door panels. Vintage AC keeps things cool for those summer drives.
The hood is all steel and custom made to give a nice cowl induction without being too tall to obstruct vision.
Paint is a nice darker shade of red with tasteful ghost flames. New wood bed with perfect tubs to make room for the meats in the back.
UPDATES: The truck just got back from a 3 week stay at a local custom car shop.
I added "Bear Claw" style door latches. The truck had the original door latches and I didn't feel confident with them. The doors always closed a little loose, and they had to be slammed close. Now they close with the push of a finger, close tight, and I never have to worry they might open when going around a turn.
Additionally, the passenger side door would sag just a bit when fully open. While we were redoing the latches it was a good time to replace the door bushings as well. Now the door opens and closes like brand new.
The brakes also felt a little soft. So I added a brand new, larger master cylinder. New brake lines were run throughout and the rear drums were rebuilt with new shoes.
I added an electronic choke. Now I just turn the key and go.
The paint is in good shape but there are two chips on the front fenders from where the clam shell hood was dropped once while putting it down
