1955 Chevrolet Bel Air

1955 Chevrolet Bel Air Custom Back in the 50s the automobile world was thriving but nobody had a clue of what was about to come in 1955. Chevrolet had already introduced the Bel Air trim level but was about to hit the tri-five era as we reference it today. Manufacturers back in the day werent thinking their vehicles would some day become collectors items and in the case of tri-fives not only would they become collector cars but would be viewed as an icon the 50s. Like jukeboxes and poodle skirts the Bel Air would eventually become an immediate visual representation of the decade. Well this gorgeous 55 Chevy takes that 50s style and with some beautiful modifications rocket it into current times. It is packed with modern style and comfort making it a reliable show car despite just passing up being 70 years old. The frame off restomod restoration was completed 18,321 miles ago so it has been road tested and is ready to go. The body is in excellent condition with no rust and painted in a very clean two tone PPG (Base/Clear) Green and Colorado Beige. It is a unique combo that has a slick finish and really stands out. To clean up the exterior even more the doors and deck lid have been shaved with the license plate being frenched. The hood has also been shaved but that classic ornament has been kept in place as a nod to the originals. With the removal of handles, the doors/trunk are on remote locks as are the power windows. It wears California 1 piece bumpers which along with the custom tube grill really look sharp. The paint, chrome and stainless all have a beautiful shine and smooth finish. Even the gas filler door was shaved off and relocated into the trunk. The lights on it all work properly and LED lights have been added in back as well as a 3rd brake light for extra visibility. The glass is all good throughout and it does have intermittent wipers should you happen to get caught in the rain. You will note two different stances in our pictures due to the custom Air Ride system which utilizes a tank and compressor in the trunk. All four corners are adjustable and the car really looks good whether it is sitting at a comfortable ride height or slammed down to the ground. The shining Boyd Coddington wheels fill the fender wells nicely and are 17x7 in the front and 17x8 in rear. Those are then wrapped in low profile Nitto tires. The level of detail on this car is top notch everywhere you look and that includes the mechanical side. Turning those tires is a Corvette TPI L98 350 5.7L motor. These engines offer plenty of power and with the injection run much more efficiently than the carbureted counter part. It has no cooling issues with a custom built Brass Works radiator with a 16 electric fan. The firewall has been very cleverly modified with a built out custom smoothed section that almost give the appearance it has been recessed.
