Little Known Facts- The 1954 Hudson Super Jet was a compact car produced by Hudson Motor Car Company during a period of shifting consumer tastes. Designed to offer a smaller more affordable alternative to Hudsons larger sedans, the Jet was introduced in 1953 with the Super being one of its upgrade trim levels in 1954. About 14,000 Jets were sold in 1954, making them relatively rare today. Shortly after the Jet was introduced, Hudson merged with Nash-Kelvinator (Jan.1954) to form the American Motors Corporation (AMC) and production of the Hudson Jet ceased. Award Winning Hudson- This rare, prize-winning 1954 Hudson Super Jet received a careful restoration in 2001. The exterior was refinished in factory Silver Blue/Algerian Blue that is in outstanding condition. It is nicely accented by handsome chrome/stainless, a classic grill, continental tire, rear fender skirts and 15 steel rims with beauty rings/caps that mount BFGoodrich Silvertown wide whites bias tires. Interior Beauty- The handsome interior was fully restored using new blue cloth/vinyl upholstery. Headliner, door cards and dash pad are all outstanding. The classic dashboard looks much like it did in 1954 including an AM radio that functions well. All gauges (except fuel) also perform well. The step-down Hudson chassis design (low floor, recessed seating) was still influencing these cars and set Hudson apart. Hudson Flathead Power- The Super Jet is powered by Hudsons 202ci flathead inline-6 rated at 104 bhp. It is said to have never been rebuilt and sounds great. The fuel system has been reconditioned and everything under the hood looks as it did in 1954. The flathead is backed by a 3-speed manual transmission with column shift. New four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes provide smooth stopping power. Maintenance records, a Service Manual and original Hudson Sales Brochures are also included. This is an exceptional Hudson Super Jet that is ready to roll. For someone interested in early Hudsons, compacts, or unusual 1950s cars, the Super Jet offers something different from the more common big full-sized Hudsons or Chevrolet/Ford of the era.
