The Volkswagen Kombi van reached iconic status, with even a school lunch box fashioned in its image. During those early years, the Volkswagen Microbus morphed into various forms. From a cargo carrier with no windows behind the driver's seat to a windowed passenger van with three rows of seats, the possibilities seemed endless.

Tires are one-year old. Brakes have a new master cylinder. The wheels have a new wheel
cylinder. Most all of the brake lines have been replaced. Brakes have not been adjusted since the
new cylinders have been installed. The floor panels are in good condition. Battery box is in good
condition. Engine compartment is clean as well as the front trunk. One pin hole can be seen near
the trunk drain hole. Wiring is worn. Horn works intermittently. Roll bar is a bolt-on and can be
removed. Seller notes that the roll bar was installed for safety reasons and not for racing. Seats
have been reupholstered in marine grade vinyl but retain the original seat construction (coil
springs and horse hair). The doors are in brown corduroy and the carpet is brown. Blaupunkt
radio with clear glass.
Carbs were recently rebuilt and installed. Adjustments were not made on them. Split case engine
runs well with no smoke. Shocks are original. Paint fracture can be seen on the roof of the front
passenger side. Left rear fender shows crinkles. Wheels are 165/80R15 and are as new (zero
miles). Painted German hub caps.
Documentation includes workshop manuals and Spare parts list as well as spare parts.
Accompanying letter from VW Porsche, Germany, dated 8/21/1970 shows that it was shipped to
Hoffman Brothers in New York City for distribution in 1953. This car has been locally owned
since 1970 and has not been road driven in 30+ years but has been maintained.
