Classic Car Overview
Just in, acquired from a fella who was given the car by his father as a reward for doing well in high school. Back in 1963! So, one owner over the past 57 years. And only covered 26,000 since new.
A quick inspection.....underneath, virtually perfect chassis, body mounts, wood body framing, side curtain box, all looking like it has been garaged for all or most of its life. Last owner told us he had: converted to MGB disc brakes, installed new chrome wire wheels, repainted a couple of years ago, leather seats, fairly new tan top and side curtains, new SU carbs (had to be at least $1,500 in carbs alone). And all of the chrome appears to be excellent or new.
The rest? We did a compression test, 130 psi right across. And remember, these cars were built when decent gas in England was scarce, hence a very low compression ratio. Oil pressure when hot was 50-60 psi, zero smoke cold or hot, gearbox has good synchromesh and quiet in operation, excellent ride and handling, and yes, excellent brakes. Same reason I converted my own drum braked 1953 Morgan to discs. May not take top honors at a marque specific show but, geez, a lot safer in general driving.
Body: went over all of the key spots, lower parts of the doors, panel directly in front of, behind, and under the doors (using my trusty car inspection magnet). And no sign of any plastic filler, Truly a perfect chassis, wood framing, sheet metal, and in a beautiful shade of green.
Dashboard has been restored, beautiful detail work.......recovered in matching vinyl. New glove box, nice edge chrome trim. And the rest of the interior appears to be new, seats in leather.
Car was fitted with an alternator when it arrived, now with a new proper generator, new voltage regulator, new reduction gearbox and cable. So, back to original.
And wipers? Removed, possible for aesthetic reasons but we have all of the parts in stock and can fit a freshly rebuilt wiper motor and all of the new linkage, new blades and arms.
Beyond the above, a damned good TD....made beautiful with the chrome wire wheels, made safer with disc brakes, and made more reliable with new carbs and mostly new electrics including the wiring harness (new and the most expensive cotton covered....no better means of achieving a high degree of reliability than a new wiring harness....consider, most TDs have ancient, patched, frayed wiring....not this car).
This is a very special MG TD in condition, ownership history, specification, options, and equipment. Available for immediate sale.
We now offer financing at competitive rates for all vehicles in our inventory. Inquire for details.
