VW Kombi Van Seeing Resurgence in Popularity

The Volkswagen Kombi van reached iconic status, with even a school lunch box fashioned in its image. During those early years, the Volkswagen Microbus morphed into various forms. From a cargo carrier with no windows behind the driver's seat to a windowed passenger van with three rows of seats, the possibilities seemed endless.

Classic Car Overview

Expertly restored and finely tuned, this 1953 MG TD is an exceptionally nice example of great handcraftsmanship thats also ready to take the long way home today. An MG TD represents the old world style of craftsmanship. There was a lot of Detroit iron being produced in the 1950s, but this roadsters body is proudly supported by ash wood. And because this MG is already a standout, it doesnt need a boisterous color. Thats why we love the sophisticated Pale Primrose. It looks particularly nice because this MG has been treated to a high quality restoration in 2009 that not only professionally applied the color, but also made sure all the panels fit nicely. And with only 10 miles on it since completion, everything remains fresh. That also means all the iconic touches are correct from the upright grille, to the long flowing fenders, to the rear-mounted spare tire. These cool little roadsters are best for sunny day outings, but if the weather does turn wet, the black folding roof will help keep your dry for the drive home. Inside the motto should be, No radio. No windows. No problem. These MGs are a great lesson in purist motoring. The new green seats look terrific against the exterior yellow, and everything is properly trimmed to coordinate. A grippy three-spoke steering wheel, clear Jaeger gauges, and a manual transmission - thats all you get because thats all you need. Your senses will go into overload as you gaze at the glossy wood of the curved dash panel. Pull the start button, and then the wind whips through the interior while you help fill it with the wonderful soundtrack from the motor. Still, being a minimalist does not mean lacking in style. This highly detailed execution means attention is guaranteed when you park this British invasion among the big Detroit metal at car shows. There has been plenty invested in making engine bay look this good. So youll proudly show it off while touting its the original 1250cc unit this TD was born with 65 years ago. Its an overhead valve unit with twin SU carburetors. The drivetrain was built for you to go out and row through the gears of the four-speed transmission and get the most out of this little motor. Just like the legs on a little dog, the MGs engine has a peppy attitude thats happiest when its kicking just about as fast as it can. The light body weight, modern Nexen tires, and independent front suspension all contribute to this sporting attitude. But to get the most fun out of this roadster, it requires you. Thats what makes these MGs so popular; you are connected with the machine. This car needs you to get to the destination, and when you arrive, it feels like coordinated team accomplishment. The undercarriage photos will show you just how much was invested in restoring this roadster correctly. They prove that this MG TD is a cut-above classic from every angle (the build receipts and restoration photos do that, too.) So dont let this opportunity to have the best way to celebrate the finest era in European motoring pass you by. Call today!!!
