The Volkswagen Kombi van reached iconic status, with even a school lunch box fashioned in its image. During those early years, the Volkswagen Microbus morphed into various forms. 1953 MG TD, less than 500 miles since a complete professional restoration overseen by the original owner. He was lifelong member of the NW MG "T" Register (formerly its President).
Owned in private collection and properly maintained since the restoration.
The TD was disassembled down to the oak frame and rebuilt from the ground up.
Matching engine and chassis numbers. Original instruments.
During the restoration the car was:
*Stripped down to the frame.
*The car was entirely broken down when it was painted.
*The metal chassis and wood frame were fully restored.
*New wiring harness installed.
*Engine and transmission completely rebuilt.
*New clutch was installed.
*Body exterior painted in dark British green.
*Most/all of the brightwork re-chromed.
*New tan interior, top and tonneau cover.
*Pics and documents supporting restoration.
Always garaged with a dust cover.
*New (still in the box) chrome luggage rack included, but not installed;
*New (still in the box) driver/passenger seat cushion inner material included;
*Hand crank and original owner's tool kit included.
Photos of the restoration work show that it was expertly done.
