Cool Classics: 9 Classic Chevrolet Trucks Reach 6 Figures

Classic vintage Chevrolet pickup trucks are receiving growing interest among car enthusiasts. The most collectible muscle cars are numbers-matching survivors; the most sought-after vintage trucks are full custom builds.

Classic Car Overview

Restomod pickup trucks have been hot for quite some time now, and its easy to see why. Combining the handsome styling of the good old days with modern performance and comfort features, its no wonder these 30s through 70s pickups are hugely popular.

Here we have an absolutely stunning 1953 Chevrolet five-window pickup. We got the pickup from a gentleman who fanatically restored and maintained his classic vehicles. After purchasing this frame-off restored pickup, he went the extra mile and added a few upgrades including removing and painting the gas tank, painting the seat frame, and adding sound insulation and carpeting to the cabin.

To say this 53 Chevy pickup has curb appeal is an understatement. All the head-turning old-school styling cues are here, such as the gorgeous chrome accents (including the grille and bumpers), the fat fenders, the running boards and the wood-floored pickup bed. The high-quality paint looks showroom fresh as well, while a set of Torq Thrust wheels fitted with beefy performance tires finish it off in high style.

The all-steel body is incredible, both in its condition and in the quality of its finish. The green paint is perfect for the era and even the running boards are in amazing shape, while the wood planks in the bed look like they could be used for fine furniture. Note the windows in the rear corners of the cab; they were optional and are the reason its called a "five-window" pickup. The underside is as impressive as the topside; its so clean you could eat lasagna off of it.

Under the big hood and behind the sparkling grill is a 327/350-horsepower V8 thats been upgraded with an Edelbrock intake, a Holley 4-barrel carb, ceramic coated headers and a stout 4-core radiator with an electric fan. Dressing it up are finned Corvette valve covers and billet components including the pulleys and plug wire looms. Fire it up and the dual exhaust with an H pipe and Thrush mufflers delivers an appropriately muscular but not obnoxious soundtrack. Sending the power to the 8.8-inch Ford rear end and on to the rear wheels is a proven TH350 automatic transmission.

The suspension and brakes have also been upgraded in this tasteful restomod. Front suspension is now independent thanks to Heidts brand components including tubular A arms while the rear has a 4-link setup with coil overs. Power rack-and-pinion steering and power front disc brakes complete the makeover underneath, giving this old-school truck modern ride, handling and braking characteristics.

Inside the roomy cab, youre greeted with a leather-wrapped, three-spoke tilt steering wheel and a full complement of vintage style "Dolphin" gauges. Vintage A/C and heat along with a Pioneer audio system and the plush, pleated bench seat (with matching door panels) add plenty of comfort and hi-fi sound for those long cruises.

Simply put, this 1953 Chevy pickup restomod checks all the boxes. Fantastic looks, incredible condition, sizzling performance and modern upgrades that improve reliability, safety and comfort are all part of the package, as is a detailed and documented binder on this pristine pickup.
