VW Kombi Van Seeing Resurgence in Popularity

The Volkswagen Kombi van reached iconic status, with even a school lunch box fashioned in its image. During those early years, the Volkswagen Microbus morphed into various forms. Rolls Royce Silver Dawn, one of 760 produced from 1949-1955,  Std Saloon, LHD. 4spd column shift, short boot, large engine 4566cc, all numbers matching vehicle,  Same family owned since August 1967, documented 2nd owner according to RR records. First owner, Mr Ilhamy Hussein, PASHA ,former Chairman of Egyptian airline SAIDE, and Chairman of the National Bottling Co of Egypt (Pepsi-Cola), given the title of Pasha by Egyptian King Farouk in 1942 for his business advice. This information adds nothing to the value of the Dawn, only given as a point of interest of the first owner. He placed his order for the Dawn on 11/22/1951,  was delivered on 05/1952, titled as 1952, FOB Egypt. Special options for use in Egypt; Speedometer in kilometers, presently at 72,655 km, Double filament headlamps, Colonial front springing, Dust blind to boot with leather hold down.straps, White sided tyres, Medium & short wave radio with separate speaker, Swiss type rear bracket and lamps, Oil bath air cleaner, Rear window demister, 120 degree opening side vents, Three position switch for heater and demister, Pleated elastic leather pockets to rear of front seats in place of tables. The Dawn was used by the first owner in Egypt and Switzerland where my father purchased it from the estate of Mr. Ilhamy at the S.A. Du Garage De L' Athenee, Geneva Switerland. The Dawn was repainted, wood refinished and leather resprayed by Niko-Michael Coachworks formerly of LIC, NY in 1972, The Dawn won 2 first place awards from a RROC Atlantic Region meets, 1972 fall tour first place post war, and 1975 first place post war. Other than the work done by Niko- Michael the Dawn is original, drive train, chrome, leather, wood, headline, carpets, suspension, Paint is presentable but needs a repaint. leather needs softening, no tears, carpet good except for heel pad, radio and trafficators not working,, engine starts easily and runs strong, transmission excellent. Very good documented provenance for a 2 owner car, good driving car but needs to be gone over and tuned to specs for long trips, Has not been driven more than 500 miles in the last 12yrs, started regularly and occasionally taken out for a short drive of 3 or 5 miles, mechanically maintained by myself and my father, Also included in the sale is an accumulation of many NOS, used, reconditioned parts, some fit SW & Bentley, approximately  $18,000 to $20,000 at retail, including, NOS  pistons, rings, valves, tappets, valve springs, used carbs ,shocks, fuel pumps, generator, exhaust pipes, bumpers, front bumper to chassis mounting bracket, grill no vanes , electrical including points, coils, condensers, plugs, oil filters, trafficators, windscreen seals. gaskets. bulbs, and many more miscellaneous parts.  Photos and parts list available, some parts have RR factory wrappings and part numbers. Very good documented provenance for a 2 owner car,  The Dawn is not a concours vehicle, but it is very presentable, nice driver and would take very little to enjoy driving regularly to shows/events, I  have all receipts, photos  of purchase and other shipping documents from SW to NYC, Would prefer to sell the Dawn and parts as 1 lot, $60,000 , but will consider selling the car or the parts individually, all offers considered,  BTC accepted.
