Classic Car Overview

The Mercedes-Benz W 187 was produced from 1951 to 1955, available as sedan, coupé and cabriolet. All 220s used the newly developed M180 six-cylinder 2195cc engine producing 80 hp. In contrast with the rather old fashioned look of the cars body, the new engines attracted much attention in the motoring press, this being the first new engine presented by Mercedes-Benz in more than 10 years. The manufacturer claimed a top speed of 140 km/h for the sedans. With a recent vehicle inspection on June 9, 2020 and 450 kilometers driven since the last dyno tests, where the chassis and brakes performed excellently, this Mercedes-Benz 220 remains a fine example of meticulous care and attention to detail. Comes with many original books, manuals and documents. Technical Condition: The car drives very well and the gearbox changes gears smoothly. The mechanical components of the Mercedes-Benz 220 have been consistently maintained by the previous owner throughout their period of ownership. Regular repairs and upkeep have preserved the vehicle's technical reliability. While the cooling and heating systems have shown signs of wear due to infrequent use and may require an overhaul, other aspects such as the chassis and brakes are in excellent condition, needing only a system flush and renewal of the hydraulic fluid. Visual Condition: This vehicle features a beautifully maintained black nitro paintwork and although it exhibits some signs of age, such as fine hairline cracks, and two stress cracks, these details reflect the cars history and life. The interior has been completely refreshed with new upholstery and beautiful beige leather seats, while the door panels have been reproduced in black leather. The headliner has also been replaced with the original fleece material, ensuring the car maintains its classic aesthetic. An interesting feature of this 220 is its original tube radio, for which the original warranty certificate is still available, adding a unique historical detail to the car. This 1952 Mercedes-Benz 220 combines historical authenticity with careful preservation, offering a unique opportunity to own a well-maintained classic that still exudes its original charm and elegance. Location: Switzerland .
