Classic Car Overview

1952 Ford F3 Pickup For consignment, a 1952 Ford F3 pickup truck showing 70,414 miles, but the true miles are unknown. This truck benefits from a new writing harness and a 12 volt system with alternator and otherwise presents in overall original condition with a bit more sheen to its red coat. Exterior Gleaming like a Christmas aleigh, this ton truck wears a two stage coat of Carnival Red and when coupled with the robust, ivory painted grille, presents as the perfect model for your next holiday postcard. Light rings and the front bumper glisten like tinsel on a tree with very nice chrome while the hood spear over the vents adds some side shine. Ford pops off the tailgate in white paint back when brand call outs were small, if present at all, compared to todays Ford where the letter stretch across the grille and tailgate. 16-inch wheels are painted to match and have vintage dog dish hubcaps and trim rings, wrapped in LT rated tires. The bed boards have been refinished highlighting dark grains between black painted rails. Some blistering is noted in spots and a chip, but otherwise paint and trim are in great shape. Interior Bring your wax inside because the inner doors are body colored steel only with visible fasteners and clean hardware. A gray grain vinyl bench is simple and clean and in great shape, facing a vintage steering wheel and an original looking dashboard with its lip gloss red background. The shifter that rises from the floor is topped by a Stouts Brewing Company tap handle and along with the hand brake rises from a rubber coated floor. Gray vinyl panels line the footwells but the headliner is red steel with the domes lights wiring taped into place and a single sun visor is afforded to the driver. Drivetrain The engine bay is clean and roomy and houses the 215ci inline six cylinder with a 1-barrel carburetor and mated to a 3-speed manual transmission that routes power to the Timkem 51524 rear axle with 4.86 gears. Undercarriage Driver quality underneath with some typical surface rust and residual oil on the pan and rear differential but no visible leaks. Drum brakes are at all four corners and so are leaf springs, while the single exhaust finds a stock style exhaust and exits out back. A touch of surface rust is noted on the door bottoms. Drive-Ability Imagining a hard day of work ahead, we start this F3 thinking how it must have served its original owner back in the day. Meanwhile, the engine runs smooth, the truck tracks straight, provides plenty of visibility, and stops when asked. All functions operate as they should and its off to the truck room for this one. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. F1s are a dime a dozen, comparatively. Its not so common to get an F3 in our Hallowed Halls and while light duty was fine for the average tradesman in 1952, the F3 was the go to for bigger needs and heavier hauling. This is a fantastic example with great paint, clean interior, and stunning wood bed.
