Classic Car Overview

Back in 1948, Ford released the first F-series pickup truck. The F-1 was an all-new design that boasted a much roomier and comfortable cab. Ford called it the "Million Dollar Cab", referring to the hefty investment the company made into the passenger compartment. The F-1 was produced from 1948 through 1952 and though these were very utilitarian work horses, they had plenty of style with their fat fenders, chrome accents and wooden bed floor. This pickup would prove incredibly popular and paved the wave for the F-series trucks that would follow.

Here we have a gorgeous 1952 F-1, proudly representing the last year of the F-1 generation. A beautiful restoration that still presents extremely well, this F-1 is so clean underneath you could eat lasagna off the floorboards. The lustrous paint looks great and the wheels with their chrome old-school hubcaps and wide whitewalls nicely finish off the trucks look. Inside the cab the seats and headliner are in fine shape, as are the metal dash and door panels. The original radio is still here, as is the heater, both of which were optional back then.

Originally fitted with a 239 cubic-inch, 100-horsepower V8, it now boasts a beefed-up 289 fitted with a four barrel carb, ceramic-coated headers and dual exhausts that all help it make nearly three times what the original V8 made. Those horses run through a C4 automatic and out to the stock rear end. Note that to keep the original manual transmission look, the clutch pedal was left intact and a "Lokar" stick shift style automatic gear selector was installed. The F-1 drives as nice as it looks.
