Ample power was delivered by a new 337 CI flathead Ford V-8 engine developing over 150 HP and the new Lincolns could now easily exceed 100 mph on command. A GM-sourced Hydra-Matic 4-speed automatic transmission was optional equipment by 1951. Among todays knowledgeable collectors, the 1949-51 Lincolns are recognized as luxurious, quiet, high-quality automobiles capable of covering long distances almost effortlessly. Coded L-72C within the Lincoln model catalog, the low-production Lido was a glamorous, specially trimmed Lincoln 6-passenger Club Coupe equipped with either a canvas or vinyl roof covering and a high-level custom interior. Offered for only two model years (1950-51), the Lido was built to compete with GMs new crop of hardtop models.
