Classic Car Overview

3 Owner, 1951 Chevy 3100 Pick Up

This is a three owner 1951 Chevrolet 3100 Pick Up truck.

The second owners purchased the truck roughly 15 years ago from the original owner. It was pretty beat up, having always lived here in New England.
According to the current owner, the only panel on the truck not original to the truck is the left hand bed side. Everything else is original metal. When you get up under her, you can see some welds and patches, but the overall finish is pretty darn nice. The second owners are the ones that did a majority of the work, including "going through the engine", which he thinks included head work, honing and bearings.
The current owner bought it for his wife about 4 years ago as she always wanted one. Driving a manual trans car, he figured the three on the tree would be fine for her, as she's a rather proficient shifter.
She absolutely disliked the three on the tree and pretty much refused to drive it.
He's used it locally for the last three years, mostly for Home Depot and dump runs and the occasional ice cream run.

While she may not like driving it, she still enjoyed riding in it.
He had a bunch of work done as well, changing over to 12V, dual reservoir master cylinder install, heater and defroster install and a bunch of fitment issues taken care of (doors, hood, etc.).

The truck is very solid with only minor surface corrosion on the chassis, the body is in very good shape with no rust showing anywhere, the paint is very shiny but does have a few minor nicks and small scratches. He DID use it as a truck after all.

The truck was buffed out a couple years ago and a lot of the wet material went down onto the inner fenderwells and other parts of the truck, as seen in several photos. A deep detail on this will remove it.

The bed wood is all new.

Under the hood the 216 Thriftmaster provides motivation through a 3 speed manual "3 on the tree" transmission. This puts the power to the wheels via a standard 1951 10 bolt GM rear axle, which has the 2 sets of leaf springs (regular and overload) holding it in place.

The exhaust is new.

The tires are a combination of Coker Classics in front these are reportedly only 6 years old, the rear tires are much older Lester 6.00x16 and some cracks are visible in the sidewall.

The interior is mostly stock aside from the signal switch. All the gauges work, the wipers move (they're vacuum operated so rather slow when at idle), horn works and the heater works too.

The windows roll up and down, although the driver window needs to rolled down slowly so as to not dislodge it from the track.

Everything else in the inside is in good condition.

The engine starts right up and runs and drives very well .. for a 75 year old truck. The odometer shows 4090 miles, TMU.

Steering is easy and the brakes work just a bit better as the current owner had a dual reservoir master cylinder installed. They stop the truck very easily.

This truck is not a show winner by any means but a fun truck to bring out to cars and coffees, cruise nights, ice cream and dump runs.

With some strong attention to details, this truck could be brought up a notch to local show truck level.

The asking price on this 51 Chevy Pick Up is $26,000
