GM's "Advance Design Trucks" Began production mid-year in 1947 with production concluding in 1955. This generation of trucks received enhancements that were welcomed by the buying public. In 1947 GM adopted a design with more natural curves, and less of a boxed appearance. The new horizontal grille was most notable, though the more important feature was a cab design giving the occupants more room.

1951 Chevrolet trucks were the fifth iteration of GM's "Advance Design Trucks". The 3100 was the half-ton, light-duty truck of the 1951 Chevrolet lineup, and distinguishable from the previous model years with a few key changes. Side cowl vents were deleted, and new Ventipane vent windows were added to the doors. Optionally cab corner windows, and chrome bumpers were available.
