Classic Car Overview

1950 Willys Jeepster VJ3 463 Convertible For consignment, a 1950 Willy Jeepster VJ3 463 convertible with a title verified 92,702 actual miles. The VJ3 was a mid-year production change that resulted in a bit of a facelift with a new grille featuring five horizontal chrome bars. This example received a frame off restoration after being purchased in 2016 and has a series of trophies under its belt. Exterior Jeepsters wear pale yellow better than just about any car, and this example is proof! Its contrasted by a glossy band of black that highlights the passenger compartment, trimmed in stainless for further emphasis and tied into the black canvas top. The updated V-shaped grille features bold horizontal bars, and a chrome bumper guard loops over the bumper itself, all in fine condition. Polished domed hubcaps with a red center W badge covers the 15-inch wheels with just a hint of black painted steel wheels underneath showing. At the back of this vehicle is an additional hanging spare white wall tire with hubcap in a continental kit style mount. Imperfections noted include several areas of paint runs, some fading of the canvas top, some hazing of the plastic window, and chipped paint. Interior Our clean interior begins with grain vinyl cards in the black painted inner doors, tidy with a touch of utilitarian simplicity Jeeps are known for. The front seats are split and have a 70/30 configuration with smooth black grain vinyl and the rear bench is dressed in a more narrow stitch pattern. We note a tear in the corner of the drivers seat and on a rear armrest. A white steering wheel with center cap logo that matches the wheel coverings fronts the yellow painted dash with center cluster that includes a speedometer over square condition gauges and some knobs in a classic and vintage presentation. Low pile black carpet with vinyl edges cover the floor and a heater is tucked under the dash. Drivetrain Under the hood we find a clean 134ci inline four cylinder rated at 60 horsepower and fueled via a 1-barrel carburetor. It is mated to a 3-speed manual with overdrive that routes power to the Dana 25 rear axle with 4.88 gears. It runs on a 6 volt system and a Duralast battery is in the bay. Undercarriage Spotless conditions prevail underneath where an X-frame takes center stage. Drum brakes are found at all four wheels and a single exhaust flows through a stock style muffler, finding the atmosphere through a straight pipe out back. Suspension includes a transverse leaf spring in front and leaf springs in the back. Drive-Ability Theyre not fast, but they are fun! Its extremely simple interior really does harken back to amusement park rides when we were eight years old when we could not be bothered with distractions. The car rolls onto the test loop and the engine delivers a smooth ride with enough power to elicit smiles, but not enough to get into trouble. We note the radio, wipers, heater blower and gas gauge are not working, but all other functions work as expected. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. What do all the Jeepsters have in common that Classic Auto Mall had the pleasure of representing? Except for one, they have all found new homes! Quietly, and over eight years, Jeepsters have become a consistent seller and often a quick one. We get over a million page visits to our website each month, so if youre in the market for a Jeepster, call on this one soon!
