With dauntingly small numbers of these cars surviving, let alone being restored, this is a hens tooth of a consignment. Aerodynamics were a second thought in the day, however this car has the design of a sleek rocket ship, albeit in Buck Rogers heavy form, but still sleek and swept. Big chrome adds to the look, and weight, which nearly eclipses 2 tons! The beneficiary of a lead sled transformation, some snappy flames and shaving of various un-needed accoutrements, we now have a real cool cruiser. Exterior Picture an elongated bubble all round and shiny that starts out with a tastefully large grille with a tastefully large bumper below. Add on 2 round parking/signal lights with tastefully large single round headlight bezels, a shaved badge now with painted flourishes in orange on the beginnings of a bulbous hood. Fenders that tastefully bulge away from the hood and run to the back dying into a straight panel on doors. A few more round overs for the rear quarters, a trunk lid that bulges slightly upward from those quarters, and wrap around tail lights framed below by another tastefully large rear bumper and dual pipes protruding from underneath stage center. A rounded roof line with rounded windows, chrome surrounds and dual spot lights along with some sexy rear skirts, and we have the Buck Rogers Rocket look. Lets bathe it all in plum and add on some ghost orange fames and I think Im in love. Lest we forget the beltline chromed side spear and chromed lake pipes which ride literally inches from the ground on this low uber kewl cruiser. Rear fender skirts add to the look and some chromed moon caps with front knock off style wheel covers all wrapped in wide whitewalls, and low and slow better take note...big time. Interior Swinging both doors open I note triangulated pattern inserted red velour broadcloth mixed with solid red fuzzy red broadcloth and a red vinyl lower. Delineated by a thin chrome strip, has a puffy armrest, and shiny actuator, and all chromed crank. This beautiful combo plays out on the seats too with red triangulated pattern tuck and roll inserts, and smooth deep red fuzzy broadcloth bolsters. Throw on some piping for the different fabric delineations, and make a back seat bench just like the front, only add some big arms, and throw pillows and we have room for 6. Red carpet floods the floors, and up front above this carpet floats the dash with its dark red all steel dash top, and mostly chrome ribbed dash front and instrument surrounds. Instruments are all now digital in blue LED outputs. These are all clean and looking great and are fronted by the original steering wheel, fashioned out of bakelite with a round chrome horn rim just inside the bakelite. Noted is a center console sporting an under dash AC unit and vents as well as a JVC AM/FM/CD player, and cupholders all in the hump in front of the front bench. Floating above is a fussy red velour broadcloth headliner, nice and tight. Drivetrain Taking a peek under the hood, and we see a nicely restored engine bay, we note more chromed bling add ons for this consigner stated 350ci V8. Its fed fossils and air through a 4-barrel carb, and has a TH350 3-speed automatic on back going to a Dana 44 rear axle. Looking great under this hood and chromed peppered engine. Undercarriage Underneath a newer gas tank, and a rust free X frame with no rust, body hangers, floor pans and wheel wells. Independent coil springs for front and leaf springs for the rear along with front wheel power discs and rear power drum brakes to provide the woah!. A Flowmaster dual exhaust is on. Drive-Ability Slipping inside this earlier restoration it retains its sparkle and je ne sais quoi. It fired right up and idled without a wiggle. Smooth take off and decent stopping, as well as tight steering with some body roll, but its a 2 ton car so it will not carve a curve like those of less stature and similar structure. The radio bolted out the tunes and the LED dash readouts are mesmerizing. All in working condition. Holding its own very nicely, no faults noted in the exterior paint, and the interior is just fab. A nice engine and bay, and structurally sound, Its a rarely seen car, and even rarer to be seen in this condition.
