Classic Car Overview

When you pull up in this one, we bet everyone will say, I didnt know Mercury made trucks! Well they did, and this 1950 Mercury M-47 is your opportunity at a complete example of one of these rare pickups. Featuring a frame-off restoration completed to a very high standard, this Merc truck is an absolute stunner were proud to feature. This one looks a whole lot like the legendary Ford F-1 that also first debuted in 1948. Thats because Mercury needed a pickup for Canadian dealers that did not have a Ford outlet near them. So, a handful of Fords got the Mercury treatment. This includes the more intricate grille, unique badging, and extra trim on the front fender. And of course, its just really cool to have a tailgate with the Mercury name stamped into the metal. Beyond these unique and correct styling cues, you have the components from the first-year Ford F-series pickup. So this is truly the best of both worlds where you have a cool classic that has the look and parts availability of an iconic Ford, and also you have an extra standout presence. In fact, this one was meant to be distinctive in all the best ways. The two-tone paint is miles deep and looks like a million bucks; the finished bed is so distinguished youll never dare to fill it with anything grimy; and the polished wheels add the right amount of Mercury flair. The cab was built for long-lasting function. Theres plenty of dashboard space, thanks to a simple, uncluttered design. Muddy work boots arent encouraged but certainly are not a problem because the rubber floor mat means this cleanup is as simple as a garden hose. Despite this utilitarian feel, the cab was as extensively restored as the exterior of the truck, and features exterior-matching Palisade Green paint, new headliner, and a freshly upholstered vinyl bench for comfort. This Mercury reflects the Ford F-1s blue-collar roots, and so as you grab three-spoke wheel, you can almost feel the grooves leftover from all the workers who relied on similar pickups for decades. There is an original-style AM radio in the dash, but it will likely be seldom used because this pickup will make you want to whistle a workers tune on every road trip. The 239 cubic-inch flathead V8 was the larger of the two motors offered from the Ford lineup in 50, so this special Mercury gets the upgraded wallop of power. The motor snaps right to attention with a flick of the key, pulls strong down the road with plenty of torque, and provides an all-around, period-correct driving experience. Plus, the HD three-speed manual transmission keeps you in control of it all, and the drum brakes are very responsive. Whitewall Firestone bias-ply tires tuck neatly into the wheel wells and provide an added elegance to this already beautiful truck. In the end, the full experience of being behind the wheel feels like rolling history without any of the downside. Youve seen what the first-year Ford F-1s are going for these days, so its impressive that you can get an even more distinctive and complete Mercury version for a comparable price. But thats only true if you act quickly on this unique pickup. Call today!!!
