Classic Car Overview

1949 Buick Super Estate Wagon Expertly Restored Woodwork, Original Drivetrain, Rare Factory Woody

This 1949 Buick Super Estate Wagon is not just a beautiful classic its also a rare one. Produced in limited numbers for the 1949 model year, the Super Estate Wagon is a rare and highly sought-after collectors item today. This model is exceptionally hard to find today, especially in such well-preserved and thoughtfully restored condition.

Imported from Southern California to Sweden in 2008, this example has had only one careful owner in Sweden since. While the body was in solid shape at the time of import, the factory wood body framing a hallmark of all true Woodys needed attention. That restoration was entrusted to Mats Snickare, a renowned Swedish craftsman known for restoring high-end wooden boats on the island of Tjörn. His skill and precision are evident throughout the car, from the grain matching and tight joints to the finish that complements the stunning blue repaint done in 2015.

The result is a wagon that not only turns heads but showcases a level of woodworking expertise that rivals or exceeds factory standards.

Restoration Documentation:
Included with the sale are detailed photos documenting the expert restoration of the woodwork, showcasing the craftsmanship and attention to detail that went into the project.

This rare 1949 Super Estate Wagon offers an outstanding opportunity to own one of the most distinctive and limited-production postwar Buicks. Whether you choose to enjoy it as it is with its exceptional woodwork, smooth driving experience, and unique history or take it to the next level with further refinements, it promises to be a standout in any collection. Its a car that presents beautifully, drives well, and would be equally at home at shows or enjoyed on the road.

Note: As with most classic cars, there are a few minor, normal oil leaks from the engine and transmission, especially when the car is parked for longer periods. These are typical for vehicles of this age and add character to its classic nature. Additionally, the fuel gauge is not functioning, and the dome light lens is missing both are relatively minor and can be easily addressed for the next owner.

Swedish Safety Inspection:

The car has passed a Swedish safety inspection and, as a result, is exempt from future inspections as a registered classic vehicle.
