High Quality, Full Restoration

Very nice quality 1948 Studebaker M5 1/2 Ton Pickup Truck for sale. This California truck was beautifully frame-off restored approximately 20 years ago in factory Ruby Glow Red with a highly upgraded gray leather interior. This stunning M5 has seen very little use since its completion by its previous Napa Valley owner. The current owner purchased this Studebaker in restored condition in 2015. We recently did some minor servicing to ensure its continued reliability.

The Champion 169 cubic inch motor was puportedly rebuilt at the time of restoration. It starts easily, idles and runs smoothly with plently of power. Its T9 crash box 4-speed transmission shifts nicely and the braking and suspension are tight and responsive making this a very nice driving M5.

The body is super straight and rust-free, beautifully refinished in Studebaker Ruby Glow Red with all-new beading, rubber, restored or replaced trim, glass, lenses, chrome, and badging. The wheels were refinished as well, with proper rings, caps, and a set of bias-ply whitewalls presumably installed at the time of restoration. Due to age, it should be replaced if it will be driven. This is a beautiful truck, and its current condition is a testament to the quality of its restoration.

Inside the cab, the intense scent of high-quality leather is noticeably present. The fit and finish are beautiful with no rattles and seem well-insulated beyond any factory standards with super high-quality, expert-installed short-pile custom luxury carpeting. Classic Stewart-Warner fuel, temperature, and amperage gauges have been installed in the glovebox along with head/tail and foglamp switches. The horn, wipers, and blinkers are in working order, though the radio does not turn on. The wind wings and windows open and close smoothly. This is a very comfortable truck, beyond anything available in its generation, and done in a tasteful way so as not to distract from the original spirit of the Studebaker of that bygone era.
