Description;
The car was found rust free and purchased in the desert near Las Cruces New Mexico. It has undergone a professional, several year restoration project. The body was removed from the frame. The chassis was sand blasted and a new Fat Man Inc. Front frame stub with tubular A arms was added. A new K member was built and installed. The rear axle was hung using leaf springs and traction bars. All new suspension parts were installed. Power disc brakes and rear finned drums were used. All new brake and fuel lines were run in the chassis. The steering is a power rack and pinion. Emergency brakes were installed. The power comes from a new GM ZZ4 V-8 350 cubic inch crate engine with 355 horsepower. It is mated to a General Motors 200-4R overdrive automatic transmission and a new custom-made drive shaft. The gas tank from a 1963 Lark Wagon was custom fit to the chassis and trunk floor for additional tank size from original. The radiator is custom made aluminum with custom made fan shroud. The headers are Sanderson cast that have been Jet Hot coated into two and one half inch exhaust pipes. The engine is dressed up with chrome accents and aluminum billet pulleys and accessories. The body was done by Jefferson Auto Body in Mishawaka Indiana. The body was done off the car on a rotisserie. It was blasted, primed and all holes were filled and welded shut, all emblems removed including trunk and door handles and fender vents. Power windows and electric remote openers for doors and deck lid were installed. The front sheet metal is a modified bullet nose. The rear bumper is from a 1963 Studebaker Lark station wagon modified to fit the body. The lower pan under the bumper was also modified from a Lark to finish under the bumper. The interior including firewall, floors etc. are lined with Dyna-Mat sound deadener and insulation before the interior was installed. The firewall was smoothed and all holes filled before paint. The paint is Glasurit Urethane base, clear coat Torch Red applied by Jefferson Auto. The interior and trunk were done by Barrys Top & Trim in South Bend Indiana in gray leather and cloth. Everything including the sun visors was covered. The front seats are from a Lincoln Mark VII with power on both sides. The rear seat is a modified Lincoln rear seat. It has a front air conditioning unit counseled behind the dash and the rear unit is mounted in the trunk with custom made front and rear outlets made by the builder. The tilt and telescopic steering column is from a Cadillac mounted in the Studebaker steering column. The dash and gages are custom fit from Classic instruments. The seat belts have a three-point shoulder harness. The radio is a Custom Auto Sound with a 10-disc C.D. player/changer under the rear seat with remote control. The rims are American Racing five spoke chrome wheels, with 235/55R16 front and 235/55R17rearTires mounted. Every part that that went into the build was new or completely rebuilt before Installation. All rubber weather strips and seals were new.
