Classic Car Overview
1948* Thames Custom Panel Truck
This is a Custom, Post War English Ford with Ford Anglia Heritage
This is a rare Ford product that is admired by both Ford and British Car fans.
The Anglia Coupes and Thames/Anglia trucks like this 1948 model were built to help the British Commonwealth get back on its heels following the conclusion of WW 2. This chassis was built in Canada and was latter Custom built into this one-of-a-kind creation.
The original panel trucks had very short doors, so the builder took wider doors from the Anglia coupe and stretched the body to fit. He was able to stretch body and frame by 10 inches to accommodate these doors. He was known in Ontario as one of the TOP metal guys using all metal and no fiberglass in this build.
This build includes deleted bumpers, modern bright headlights and LED taillights. Large dual exhaust tips match up with 355 cubic inch Chevy V8.
This 355ci V8 with a 4-bolt main block, steel crank, pink rods, and forged pistons, has plenty of power. Manley heads, roller rockers and a 600 cfm Edlebrock carburetor give this engine plenty of go power. The exhaust starts with Fenderwell ceramic coated headers and flows through dual stainless-steel mufflers.
An installed B&M shifter works with the Turbo-Hydromatic transmission that is equipped with a shift-kit that works with a 2.73:1 gear set housed in a 9 inch Ford rear end.
Other performance features include a Suspension Racing radiator, dual fuel pumps, a 4-point roll bar and a 12-gallon Fuel Cell.
The interior has the original dash with modern gauges. The windshield has a hand crank to allow the bottom of the glass to pivot out and allow air to enter the cabin. The comfortable interior has leather seats and a tilt steering wheel.
The frame is custom made using 1-1/2x3 inch tubing. It uses a Mustang II independent front suspension with custom disc-brakes and coil over shocks at all 4 corners.

NOTE:
The craftsman who did the BUILD that converted this vehicle from an old Thames panel truck into what it is today identified this as a 1948 model. The title for the vehicle somehow shows it as a 1950 model. The builder is believed to have had more knowledge than whoever registered it as a 1950. The original Thames panel van was built in the UK but the Build that change it to the vehicle was all done in Ontario, Canada.
