1948 Chrysler New Yorker
Car for sale in Clinton, Arkansas 72031
In just a few short years, Walter P. Chrysler took his company from an unknown automotive manufacturer to fourth in the industry. Walter Chrysler was a perfectionist with a deep mechanical background. This aspect, probably more than anything, helped to make Chrysler Corporation grow quickly.
A viable alternative that's still daring and different, the 1968 Chevy Impala SS 427. SS 427 Impalas are very distinctive and unique. Sales were modest, so finding an Impala SS 427, especially a convertible, could be a little challenging.
Classic Car Overview
A California car previously used as a wedding carriage in Carmel California. Purchased and transported to Arkansas about four years ago. Driven to local car shows. Mechanically very good. Straight eight "Spitfire" engine runs very well. Starts every time. Recently retrofitted a Carter electric fuel pump with two fuel filters. One fuel filter at the gas tank and the other near the carburetor. Has a fuel prime button under dash which helps in cold starts after long storage periods. Good exhaust system.
Added a modern temperature gauge under dash but all other original gauges still work. Engine temperature remains normal after longer periods of idling. Hood opens, closes and latches properly. Steering has some play but has been inspected and no hazards exist. Tires are older steel belted radials with good tread but should be replaced for highway driving due to age, Brakes are recently serviced and in reasonably good condition. Parking brake is in good operating condition. Windshield wipers are in good working order. Windshield does show light wiper scratches not severe enough to adversely affect appearance or driver safety. Original radio is non-working however a stealth (hidden) bluetooth/audio cable enabled stereo speaker system has been installed suitable for mid to low volume background driving music.
Cosmetically this car is a mix of original and older restoration and is not a high point show car but very presentable as is. In 2019 won third place in the largest, nationally recognized classic car judging event in Arkansas. This is an attractive, straight and solid car ready to drive and enjoy. No missing parts. Still has original jack and spare tire mounting parts. All interior and exterior lights work properly. Seating upholstery is recent and is clean and in excellent condition. Interior has no stale or other unpleasant odors. Headliner, door panels, floors, black running board mats are all in good to excellent condition. All doors, vents and windows work properly. Trunk is in attractive condition but does leak. Since the car is always garaged, the minor trunk leak has never been an issue for me. The only rust issue is located at the bottom/right of the trunk opening (see photos) otherwise, upon inspection of the undercarriage this car has no evidence of exposure to road salt.
