Classic Car Overview
The National Woodie club has only twelve 1947 Pontiacs listed in their directory including this car. Very rare indeed! This 1947 Pontiac Woodie was purchased in May 2006. Owner history is limited but the car was stored in 1981 and had not been driven since then. The decision was made to do a Restoration - Modernization and not try to bring it back to original condition.
Glasurit paint covers the body in the original color of Parma Wine Metallic, now mixed with
25% red pearl for that extra touch of glam. Master wood crafter Ron Heiden of Heidens Woodworking in Vista, Ca. hand crafted all new wood for the car over an 18 month period. Ash frames and ribbon mahogany plywood side panels surround. Over 10 coats of varnish are on the wood. Move under the hood and find a 400 cubic inch Pontiac V8 block bored and stroked to 462 cubic inches with an output exceeding 400 horsepower, 10.25:1 compression ratio, Edelbrock RPM Performer aluminum heads and Intake manifold, Quick fuel 750 CFM carburetor, Competition cams, 276 Hydraulic roller cam, Eagle crankshaft, Scat I-Beam rods, Wiseco custom dished pistons, Clevite bearings, Harland Sharp roller rockers, March serpentine belt system, and Pontiac Ram Air IV iron exhaust headers. This is all backed by a GM 4L 60E 4- speed automatic with a Compushift transmission controller. Front suspension is Fat Man sub frame with Coil Over Suspension and Mustang II rack and pinion power steering set up. Rear suspension is Ford 9 inch rear axle from Strange Engineering with a triangulated four bar suspension and coil over shocks. Power brakes and four wheel disc brakes provide excellent stopping power. The interior has been restored with all tan leather seating. The original seat frames were used and reupholstered with some pleats and bolstering for added comfort.
Other highlights include original restored gauges with VDO electronics, Vintage Air Conditioning, power steering and power brakes, fog lights, cruise control, and the original radio converted to a four channel AM/FM stereo with an iPod connector to roll with your favorite tunes. Offered at $110,000 OBO. Vehicle is located in Los Osos, Ca. For more information please visit our website at www.classiccarmarketing.net or call us at 619-972-7073.
