From around 1956 until the mid 1980s, Dodge, Plymouth and even Chrysler squads were the most ubiquitous police cars in North America. In fact, the biggest department, the NYPD, used Plymouth and Dodge squads almost exclusively until the rear-drive M body car was finally axed in 1989.

Classic Car Overview

Immediate post-war cars are always instantly distinctive, but you already know this 1946 Lincoln Club Coupe stands out for far more than just its history. With upgraded V8 power, upgraded suspension, custom A/C interior, and a full presentation that will leave them all green with envy, this is one outstanding custom cruiser. We love cars from 46, because that was when passenger car production really came back after WWII. So youre sure to get admiration for this model year. But you may not even be able to dive into this history with most people, because theyll be too busy complementing this very custom creation. In fact, that green paint that is consuming every inch not only commands attention, but also it was completed by Mike Henry of TVs Counting Cars. But even before the first drop went on this super-slick celebrity paintjob, they made sure the body was given the full custom treatment. Frenched headlights, expertly deleted trim, sport mirrors, integrated third brake light, rear bumper delete, Frenched license plate, and much more created one of the sleekest 40s cars you can get your hands on. And while they gave this one a very modern look, the bright shine of Lincolns classic chrome grille mixed with modern polished alloy wheels reminds you this classic American still has room for proper brightwork. There are even modern halo lights around the headlights to make sure ALL eyes are on you in this very custom coupe. Inside, the sea of green continues. The exterior minty hue is now joined by slightly darker tones on the seats, door panels, carpeting, and center console. The result is both distinctive and quite uniform exactly what you want on a custom build like this. More than just look awesome, this was built for the best comfort. Thats why everyone has leather seats, and each are individual buckets with their own armrests. The front ones even power adjust into your ideal position. There are plenty of comfort features, like power windows, power locks, cruise control, an alarm system, an AM/FM/CD stereo, and a full R134a air conditioning system that even includes vents for the rear. And as comfortable as this one is, its also meant to be a driver. Thats why you have a color-matched Momo steering wheel on a tilt column, and beyond that is a full set of digital readouts dominating the dash. Because this one was made to show off, with the flip of a switch, the hood electronically tilts forward to reveal an award-worthy engine bay. They did a fantastic job color-matching everything to the exterior from the smooth firewall, right down to the spark plug wires. And anything that isnt green is nice and bright, like the radiator pipe, pulleys, and that very cool air topper. More than just look great, theres substance behind this style. Its a 351 cubic-inch Cleveland V8, which provides far more displacement that this Lincoln had from the factory. And this V8 inhales deeply with an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, and it exhales through a set of Sanderson headers on its way to the center-exit dual exhaust. Plus, the motor has all the right supporting components, including an aluminum radiator w/large electric fan, dual-fan condenser, and separate trans cooler. As you look at the undercarriage photos, youll see color matched components in a tidy setup. While youre down there, dont forget to spot upgrades, like the Mustang II-style independent front suspension and four-wheel disc brakes. Plus, with power steering and a three-speed automatic transmission, this is one custom build that is easy to enjoy on the road. The sale comes complete with a photo book documenting this unique build. This is the custom Lincoln for someone who likes to keep people talking long after the car has pulled away.
