Classic Car Overview

Own Indiana Jones's truck! This unique vehicle is a 1947 cab on a 1946 chassis, and heavily customized for archaeological survey work in the American southwest. It has a framework over the bed with a plasticized canvas cover to protect the contents.

A large miscellaneous collection of parts for the Dodge are stored in the bed. Included is a self-switching 6/12 volt trickle charger.

Also included at extra cost is a two-layer metal toolbox full of Snap-On hand tools (inches). See photos. $1500 will be added to your bid if you want the tools and toolbox.

Mechanical
The 4-cylinder inline engine was added by the owner from a Plymouth car from the 1950s. The transmission has 4 forward gears, one of which is an extremely low "compound" gear. The transmission is unsynchronized. The starter has no solenoid, so a starter pedal must be used to start the vehicle. Electrical system is 6-volt.

Exterior
The paint is new within the last 10 years or so. Chrome in good condition. There have been numerous customizations, including a shovel mounted on one side; a rack for two jerrycans (one included) on the right side running board; a rack to store two spare tires in the bed; and wooden cupboards added above the right rear fender to store tools, artifacts, and camping gear. Second tail light, turn signals, and right hand outside mirror are all additions to the stock vehicle. The tires use inner tubes.

Interior
Seat is old but still in good condition. Headliner is new. Dashboard and windows in good condition. Windshield opens outwards for more ventilation. There is a cabin heater. The oak bed has been replaced once. There are no seat belts (normal for this era). Note: windshield wipers are vacuum driven and currently do not work. Note: odometer does not reflect actual milage. 300,000 is an estimate.
