1941 Hupmobile Skylark

Gene Winfield Award Winning Hupmobile Skylark Custom 454ci V8 Automatic /// A custom build completed by Langs Custom Auto and Trim in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, this rare 1941 Hupmobile Skylark won the Gene Winfield Award at the Syracuse Nationals and was featured in Street Rodder magazine. One of only 319 produced in 1941, it features 18 custom body modifications beneath its shimmering two-tone DuPont Hot Hues Metallic Pearl White and Champagne paint, with custom graphics by Paul Quinn of Design Brilliance. Langs stitched and installed the Espresso Pearl Mello Hide upholstery and Dark Brown Daytona-weave carpet, and also fabricated the dash insert, door and console trim, and the steering-wheel rim from Birdseye Maple to dramatic effect, completing the interior with an Ididit column, Classic Instruments gauges and Vintage Air. Gil Davis Racing engines prepared the 454 CI Chevrolet engine using a Scat crank, Comp Cams roller cam and rockers, an Edelbrock Air Gap intake and carburetor, and MSD ignition. Finished with custom-fabricated exhaust and Magnaflow mufflers, it is detailed with a custom air-cleaner assembly and valve covers and backed with a Turbo 400 automatic and 9-inch Currie rear end. The car is suspended on Heidts Super Ride independent front suspension with RideTech Shockwaves and rear coilovers for a superb ride. BF Goodrich G-Force Radial tires on 18- and 20-inch Budnik wheels work with Flaming River rack-and-pinion steering and SSBC 4-wheel disc brakes to give this award-winning custom Hupp the ride to match its power and wonderful Art Deco style.
