1941 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible The 1941 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible was ground braking in design and styling. Making Cadillac a highly sought-after classic touring car for collectors. The 41 has become one of the most cherished of American automobiles throughout history. The 1941 firmly established Cadillacs strong and extremely successful styling identity, Walt McCall. The Series 62 Convertible is one of the truly iconic cars of its era, although just 3,100 were originally built with style number 6267D. The beauty of a smoothly sculpted body sparkled with chrome accents that enhanced its flowing lines. The 41 was an all new design starting with the frame being redesigned and independent front suspension to give a much smoother ride on all types of roads. The Series 62 is also one of the best driving cars of the period. The horizontal-theme grille stretched from side to side. The hood was made front-opening for the first time, and the gas tank filler was hidden in the left rear taillight, a feature that became a Cadillac hallmark. The convertible top was available only as a Deluxe model, which included rear fender skirts, wheel trim, and other decor items. Presently wearing a very nice older restoration in Gloss Black (code 51) with red leather interior and black cloth top with glass rear window and red trim. The striking instrument panel are hand painted wood design. The original gauges have been restored and are in working order. A more efficient heater would be hard to find. Defrost and heat with a two-speed fan. The full chrome in dash AM radio #7240371 lights up and the push buttons work smoothly. The 346 cu in (5.7L) is very strong and runs smooth. The 3-speed Manual Synchromesh transmission shifts effortlessly. All pans and frame have been restored and coated in gloss black...immaculate. Aesthetically speaking the 41 a sleek and clean profile of flowing lines and fine detail bring the design together. Making it the most important design in Cadillac history. The elegant proportions of the two-door convertible to create one of the most appealing cars of the pre-war-era. Being part of the Classic Car Club of America and is therefore eligible to participate in CARavan tours and club shows and events.
